US Cotton - The Best in the world

The US produces a variety of cotton types and is the second largest producer of cotton in the world. All cotton is classed and graded by the USDA, allowing mills to have their pick of which cotton will work best for their yarns while also adding assurance as to what they buy.

UPLAND COTTON

Upland cotton is shorter length (medium to short staple) cotton that is available in the United States. It is the most popular growth of cotton harvested and sold in the world. Upland cotton is grown in four major geographic areas of the U.S.: the Southeast, Mid-South, Southwest and West. Depending on the grade and length, Upland cotton works great for a variety of coarse to fine yarns.

ACALA COTTON

Only California produces a special variety of cotton called SJV Acala, which is among the highest quality Upland cottons in the world. Acala cotton benefits from the ideal climate of the San Joaquin Valley and a longer growing season, which increases yield and results in a finer product. Excellent color, length and strength for excellent yarn.

PIMA COTTON

Pima is the extra-long-staple (ELS) growth cotton found in the United States. Pima is the preferred ELS in the world because of its more uniform nature and better classification and control. Pima is usually grown in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Pima grown in the San Joaquin Valley is considered the finest cotton on earth. SUPIMA is the branded licensed US Pima cotton that enforces the highest quality and distribution standards. Pima is great for fine and super-fine yarns. The perfect cotton for high end, luxury products.
